STORIES - TREK
Harbor Covenant Church – Gig Harbor, WA
We publish The TREK Zip Line, a quarterly newsletter, and make sure that we include lots of warm welcoming gatherings to encourage Harbor Covenant boomers and beyond to invite their unchurched family and friends. Initially when TREK started, we focused on amusing pleasurable outings. Now that we have established a reputation as a fun-loving group that hosts well organized gatherings, we turn to the main thing…reaching people for Christ. The heartbeat of TREK has always had an outreach component and we have tweaked our mission statement to point us towards building relationships and pointing toward God.
TREK Mission: a group of fun loving people who enjoy being together, building relationships and journeying to God.
For the third consecutive year TREK will organize “Happy Feet,” an outreach component of the Summer Kids Camp that collects new shoes and donates them to kids heading back to school in the Gig Harbor community. This year TREK will begin collaborating with local vendors and adding new schools in an effort to reach more kids, thus ensuring more “Happy Feet” heading back to school this fall.
TREK held its first Get-Away weekend in the fall and it was a great success. We will repeat that relaxed and enjoyable outing this year to a new destination and anticipate new and deeper relationships will result among those making the trek.
Please pray for TREK as we seek to set in motion a passion for outreach among the boomers and beyond who participate in upcoming TREK gatherings at Harbor Covenant.
