October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the Covenant. Throughout the month we present stories of victims of abuse and domestic violence collected by AVA Director, Yvonne DeVaughn. These are true stories submitted by women who attend Covenant churches or who have been impacted by the ministry of AVA. As these stories impact you, we challenge you to participate in this ministry through your prayerful financial support and commitment to end domestic violence.

We encourage you to keep up-to-date with the latest stories posted here by subscribing to this blog’s RSS feed. Through email, Facebook, Twitter, phone calls, conversations, and any other way you communicate, we hope that you will share these stories with others to help us break the silence. The Evangelical Covenant Church is committed to this work because we knew that domestic violence and sexual abuse exist not only in our communities, but also in our congregations.

We hope by reading each of these “31 Days for AVA” stories that you will be challenged to support AVA with a generous financial gift. Please go to our donation page to share an online gift or you may mail a check to The Evangelical Covenant Church, ATTN: Women Ministries, 8303 W Higgins Road, Chicago, Illinois 60631. Please make your check out to “AVA.”

All names have been changed in these stories to protect the identity of the writer and any other innocent victims.
