Faithful in Service Further in Mission

Throughout more than forty years of ministry with the Evangelical Covenant Church, the Rev. Gary Walter has demonstrated wisdom, initiative, and innovation to advance God’s Kingdom. He has served the Covenant Church as a pastor, director of church planting, the executive minister of church growth and evangelism, and as the president of the denomination. As he prepares to retire, join us in reflecting on how God has blessed the Covenant in all these areas throughout Gary’s ministry:

Making More Disciples

More than 400 churches were planted.

Church attendance more than doubled.

Evangelism efforts continued to increase, with more decisions for Christ.

Among More Populations

30% of Covenant congregations are among populations of color or intentionally multiethnic.

The Covenant extended the whole gospel to the whole world through mission partnerships in Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe.

Ministry expanded into MENA (the Middle East and North Africa).

In a More Caring and Just world

Covenant Kids Congo launched to serve thousands of children in DR Congo through sponsorship.

The Covenant pursued a deeper, more intentional commitment to justice, racial righteousness and reconciliation.

Together with local partners, we responded to human suffering and injustice through disaster relief and community development.
