God Is Our Keeper – Psalm 101:1-4
Read Psalm 101:1-4
Often, the early stages of our Christian walk are full of earnest promises to God. But then we may become frustrated as we struggle to keep these commitments—and sometimes fail miserably. The good news is that God will help us keep our commitments. God will strengthen and keep us on the right path.
David pledges to be a king who walks with integrity and doesn’t even look upon that which is immoral (vv. 2-3). However, David is most well known both for being a man after God’s heart—as well as for committing adultery with Bathsheba (and committing murder to cover it up). Despite David’s mistakes, God always welcomed him back with open arms and led him back to the correct path. May this be encouragement as we continue forward in this Lenten season.
Lord, thank you for being our keeper—even when we willingly stray from the path you have set before us. You continue to welcome us back with open arms, no matter how many times we stray, and for this, we are grateful. Amen.
