The Covenant Church of Ecuador (IPEE) has grown to currently include over ninety local congregations, which are found in the Upper Andes region, several coastal cities, and the eastern jungle. There is a strong emphasis on youth ministry, community development, education, evangelism, and discipleship. Covenant missionaries in Ecuador serve alongside our Ecuadorian brothers and sisters.
The first Protestant missionaries entered Ecuador in 1896. The Evangelical Covenant Church began to work in the Upper Andes area of Ecuador in 1947. At that time, Quito, the capital, had only one Protestant church and evangelical Christians in the whole country numbered only about 1,000. From the very beginning, the ministry in Ecuador had a strong emphasis in the areas of evangelism, church planting, and education. In 1961 a national church, IPEE, was formed which has continued to work and grow over the years.
