Haiti is a French-speaking country that continues to deal with the effects of the massive earthquake that took place in early 2010. Covenant World Mission and Covenant World Relief are collaborating in relief and development efforts. The Canada and Southeast Conferences of the Evangelical Covenant Church as well as several local Covenant churches are also involved in ministries being carried out in Haiti.
The devastating earthquake that took place on January 12, 2010, has had long-term effects on Haiti. The Haitian government estimates that over 230,000 people died and one million were made homeless by the earthquake. There are also health concerns related to unsanitary conditions caused by the destruction. Covenanters continue to be involved in efforts to assist the Haitian people.
