Kenya Agricultural Mill
In the central region of Kenya, maize is a major food source. Once the maize is grown, it is taken to a mill to be ground up and made into flour. For many women, they must walk long distances and put in a lot of effort to have their maize ground, reducing the profit they can make from their crop and the amount of time they have to devote to other activities necessary for their families’ survival. The Evangelical Covenant Church of Kenya (ECCK) in Kandara is building a mill closer to the women in order to save them physical effort and time. With extra time, these women will be able to work toward other income-earning activities and the betterment of their families. As they establish a customer base, the church in Kandara will use the funds to help youth in the area learn employment skills and develop their church leadership.
