Congo Teen Moms
Covenant World Relief joins ACT for Congo for this project focused on teen moms in Goma, Congo. The population of Goma has been continuously changing over the years as fighting militias take and lose ground. This has created tension in the community and with such extreme resource scarcity, social or familial isolation is incredibly dangerous and at times deadly. This new program seeks to address the root causes of extreme poverty and inequity through job training, psycho-social support, health and human rights education, communication, and advocacy skills and experience, and facilitates community organizing for unwed teenage mothers and their children. This program focuses on the empowerment of young women who will be respected by their community and become active participants in society.
