I serve as president of Centro Hispano de Estudios Teológicos (CHET) in Compton, California. CHET empowers leaders in Latino churches for local and global ministry. I have served the Church as a pastor, church planter, chaplain, professor, counselor, and ministry coach—each role deepening my calling to form and accompany leaders within Latino and immigrant communities.
What drew me to the Covenant was its commitment to Jesus Christ and the authority of Scripture. What keeps me engaged is the desire to live faithfully together across cultures, generations, and communities. I remain because I believe God continues to use institutions like CHET to prepare leaders who serve with biblical depth, pastoral wisdom, and love.
“After a season of disruption and rebuilding, CHET is moving from survival into renewal. Relationships are healing, trust is being restored, and God is opening doors we couldn't have orchestrated."
God is renewing me through a deeper and more consistent walk with him. Almost daily, I set aside time for Scripture, prayer, and solitude. In that space, I seek God’s love, holiness, and wisdom. I seek strength to do God’s will and peace for the moments when I fall short. This rhythm has become essential—I need God’s presence to face the responsibilities I carry as president of CHET, as a father, as a husband, and most of all, as a child of God.
In this season, God is reminding me that renewal begins with surrender. Before I can lead or serve, I must remain rooted in Christ. My walk is not perfect, but it is becoming more intentional, prayerful, and dependent on the grace and power of the Holy Spirit.
I see the Holy Spirit breathing new life through what God is doing at CHET. After a difficult season of leadership transition and rebuilding, we are witnessing renewal that is both deeply spiritual and practical. Relationships are healing. Trust is being restored. Prayer and biblical reflection have returned as essential parts of our meetings, bringing a deeper dependence on God’s guidance.
God is opening new doors through partnerships with Covenant affiliates, the One Covenant Community project through North Park Theological Seminary, and theological institutions that share our desire to serve Latino communities faithfully. I see the Spirit at work in our new staff and in a growing hope that CHET is moving from survival into renewal and greater mission impact. What was once uncertain feels anchored in something only God could orchestrate.

Prior to moving to the USA, I was a professor at the National University of Colombia and served with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students in Colombia for 16 years. Starting in 2001, I served as InterVarsity National Staff in the USA. I have a master’s degree in Christian Ministries, and I serve in Spiritual Direction to those who want to be fully present and available to God and receive His grace over them. My joy is to see professors and college students coming to know Jesus and being transformed into people that bring the good news of righteousness and justice to others.
