CHICAGO, IL (November 25, 2011) – The Youth Workers Connection will take place in different parts of Chicago and in some unusual locations for worship January 28-30.
“There are not a lot of conferences that have their meetings in different locations,” says Katie Burzynski in the Events Office of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
Participants in the Covenant’s annual gathering will worship each morning at the Chicago Cultural Center, but they also will worship at the world-renowned Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park and at the Museum of Science and Industry.
The final worship service, which will take place at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare, also will be the first worship service for the Midwinter Conference, which kicks off January 30.
Worship at the pavilion will be on the same stage where the Grant Park Symphony performs. Although it is an outdoor amphitheater, the stage is shielded by a glass enclosure during the winter.
Various learning experiences will be held at the Chicago Regency Chicago-Downtown, where registrants will stay.
Worship speakers will include:
- Harvey Carey, pastor of Citadel of Faith Covenant Church in Detroit, Michigan
- Mike Novelli, founder of Echo, a ministry that explores the art of Bible “storying”
- Bianca Juarez, a writer and speaker who spends most of her time as chief storyteller for the A21 Campaign, an organization committed to abolishing human trafficking
- Kris Causton, associate pastor at Excelsior (Minnesota) Covenant Church and a speaker at various Covenant gatherings
- Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie, the first woman to be elected bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church
Primary registration remains open through December 15. The deadline for hotel reservations is January 4, or until the block of reserved rooms is full.
