GOLDEN VALLEY, MN (March 24, 2017) – Retired Covenant pastor and chaplain William “Bill” Sandstrom, 89, died Wednesday, March 22.
He was born January 10, 1928, in Chicago. He earned an associate’s degree from North Park College, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, and an MDiv from North Park Seminary.
Bill married Laura Lou Johnson on September 1, 1951.
He served First Covenant Church of South Chicago; First Covenant Church of Sioux City, Iowa; First Covenant Church in Rockford, Illinois; Ravenswood Covenant Church in Chicago; and Elim Covenant Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He served as chaplain at Covenant Village of Florida in Plantation, Florida, and Colonial Acres in Golden Valley, Minnesota; and as director of high school ministry for the denomination between 1963 and 1967.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Kari French; a son, Peter Sandstrom; and a granddaughter.
Private interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. A public memorial service is pending. Memorials may be sent to Covenant World Relief, 8303 W. Higgins, Chicago, Illinois 60631.
