CHICAGO, IL (May 8, 2018) — The COV Sparks downloadable discussion guide is now available for the May/June issue of The Covenant Companion. Based on articles from the current issue of the magazine, COV Sparks provides stimulating questions for Sunday-school classes, small-group discussions, and personal reflection.

Articles highlighted in this latest edition include:

“Who Do You Say That I Am?” by Jopsan Flores, Devyn Chambers Johnson, Dominique Gilliard, Paul H. Betancourt, Eva Sullivan-Knoff, and Jim Hampton

In the midst of theological, cultural, political disagreements and differing worldviews, how can we love each other well as members of Christ’s body? Stereotypes and labels often blind us to the person sitting next to us each Sunday. We asked six Covenanters with a variety of experiences and perspectives to help us see beyond the labels that we place on each other—sometimes without even knowing it.

“Life Giving,” by Linda Sladkey

Almost 122,000 people are waiting for organ transplants in the U.S., and over 100,000 of those waiting for a kidney. When Zaya Gilmer chose to donate a kidney to John Moon, a relative stranger at the church she had only just begun attending, she became the answer to a three-year prayer.

“That’s Life!” A conversation with Gary Walter and Craig Groeschel

Life.Church began as a Covenant church plant in 1996 that has become the largest multi-site network in the U.S. In Gary Walter’s conversation with Life.Church pastor Craig Groeschel, find out what you might not know about one of the largest churches in the United States.

“Lockdown,” by Jamie Sladkey

On the morning of March 14, hundreds of thousands of students walked out of their classrooms to protest gun violence. Jamie Sladkey, a program director of Covenant Youth Collision who often worked with some of those students, was in the library at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary when reports came in of an active shooter on campus. Sladkey reflects on the frightening time spent on lockdown that day—and the fears binding our country on both sides of the national conversation on gun control.
