Obituary: Charlotte (Ottoson) Youngman

BATAVIA, IL (September 4, 2019) — Charlotte Earldine “Deanie” (Ottoson) Youngman, widow of Covenant pastor Ralph Youngman, died Monday, September 2, at the age of 90.

She was born in Wausa, Nebraska, in 1928. After graduating in the top of her high school class at the age of 16, she taught in one-room country schools before starting at North Park College in 1948.

Deanie married Ralph on May 29, 1951. They served Covenant congregations in Le Roy and Tustin, Michigan; Ashtabula, Ohio; Lockport, Illinois; Brockton/East Bridgewater, Massachusetts; and Chariton and Centerville, Iowa.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy; and two sons, Owen and Randy; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, at the Covenant Living Holmstad retirement community in Batavia. It will be preceded by a visitation at 1 p.m. and followed by a reception.
