BANGKOK, THAILAND (May 18, 2010) – Evangelical Covenant Church missionaries are safe and far removed the turmoil occurring in parts of the capital city, says Byron Amundsen, Department of World Mission director of administration and finance.

Amundsen spoke with Executive Minister Curt Peterson, who is visiting mission sites in the country. He said the region where the sites are located have not been affected by protests that have dominated headlines of late.

According to news reports, about 5,000 protesters still occupied one area of Bangkok. At least 36 people have been killed in clashes with the Royal Thai Police.
