CHICAGO, IL (January 28, 2010) – Plans call for live broadcasting of morning and evening worship services during next week’s Midwinter Conference in Chicago.
Hundreds of Evangelical Covenant Church pastors will gather at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont Monday through Friday for a time of training, renewal, and fellowship wrapped in a conference theme: Living Our Affirmations: A Commitment to the Whole Mission of the Church.
There will be seven live broadcasts, including six worship services and the breakfast session. All evening services begin at 7 p.m., with morning services beginning at 9 a.m. The Friday morning breakfast broadcast begins at 8:45 a.m. All listed times are Central Standard Time.
The opening worship service on Monday evening will feature John Perkins, president of the John M. Perkins Foundation for Reconciliation and Development in Jackson, Mississippi. The remaining five services and the breakfast broadcasts are as follows:
- Tuesday morning – Al Tizon, associate professor of holistic ministry at Palmer Theological Seminary of Eastern University and the director of Word & Deed Network of the Evangelicals for Social Action in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania.
- Tuesday evening – Ray Johnston, president of Thriving Churches International and founding pastor of Bayside Covenant Church.
- Wednesday morning – Al Tizon
- Thursday morning – Al Tizon
- Thursday evening – Laura Sumner Truax, pastor of LaSalle Street Church, a non-denominational congregation in downtown Chicago that has a long tradition of uniting individual faith in Christ with God’s call for justice and compassion.
- Friday morning – Craig Gross, founder of the XXXchurch website.

It is recommended that those desiring to tune into the broadcasts visit the instructions link in advance to make certain their computer is properly configured to access the streaming video. Videos of the service also will be available for later viewing.
“Watching one of services on computer at home is no substitute for being present at a Midwinter event and experiencing the warmth of fellowship, networking, the many workshops and seminars and other activities,” notes Don Meyer, executive minister of Covenant Communications. “But, it is hoped it will provide some sense of being connected to the larger church family as viewers experience in real time this worship gathering and a special sense of God’s presence.”
