CAMBRIDGE, NY (January 2, 2014) — A celebration of life service with military honors was held Sunday for retired Covenant pastor Richard “Dick” Clarke Brookes, who died December 23. He was 69.
Brookes was born on May 5, 1944 in Providence, Rhode Island.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree at the U. S. Naval Academy in 1967 and was commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corp on June 7, 1967 and served until July 1971. He graduated from Denver Seminary in 1974.
Brookes married Donna Humbert on May 3, 1969. He served several churches including Trinity Covenant Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Survivors included his wife; two sons, Daniel Brookes and David Brookes; and three grandchildren.
