Five for Friday: CEO Barbie, Guilty-looking Dogs, Putting Everest in Perspective

CHICAGO, IL (April 24, 2015) — Many Covenanters routinely share links to social media articles and videos with one another that Covenant News Service believes may be of interest to others. Each Friday we post five of them. Following is a sample of those submissions—their inclusion does not represent an endorsement by the Covenant of any views expressed

Google Search Thinks Barbie is Most Important CEO
Do a Google image search for “CEO” and then wonder are there any Hispanic, African-American, or female CEOs. Take a guess at how many white men appear before the first female image shows up. Keep scrolling. Keep scrolling. That’s right, keep scrolling. The Verge highlights a new University of Washington study that says search engine results can influence the way people view various jobs. And the Barbie isn’t even a real Barbie. Be sure to follow the link to the study preview. The search results look pretty much the same on Yahoo, but at least the first female is isn’t a fake toy.

How Hamlet Can Help Us Through Our Grief and Despair
The Brain Pickings site offered up several links to several Shakespeare-related posts in honor of the writer who would have turned 451 on Thursday. Some were serious, while others such as “If Shakespeare Would Have Written Star Wars” will make you laugh.

Everest Infographic
Infographics often are packed with so much information that they are unreadable. This, however, is the best I’ve ever seen, and it is amazing. It gives you a whole new way of looking at the world’s highest mountain.

The Seven Cs of Social Media
