Obituary: Marilyn (Olson) Peterson

DES MOINES, WA (March 3, 2017) – Memorial services for Marilyn Peterson, wife of retired Covenant pastor Gary K. Peterson, will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, at Midway Covenant Church. She died Friday, February 17.

Marilyn, 79, was born on January 4, 1938, to Paul and Dolly Olson in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from North Park College and taught sixth grade for several years in Chicago.

She married Gary Peterson on August 5, 1961. After he graduated from seminary, the couple served 12 churches through nearly 40 years of ministry.

After Gary retired in 2003, the couple spent three months traveling from coast to coast in the United States.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Shari Gettis and Sonja Wetzel; a son, Tim Peterson. and seven grandchildren
