SACRAMENTO, CA (June 26, 2017) – Efrem Smith has resigned from World Impact to serve as co-lead pastor at Bayside Church of Midtown in Sacramento, a Covenant congregation, beginning August 1. He will step down from his current position on Friday.
Smith has served as head of World Impact since October 2013. The ministry focuses on developing leaders and planting churches in urban settings.
“I want to thank World Impact for the opportunity to serve [as its president] for almost four years. I am indeed grateful,” said Smith in a Facebook update. He added, “I am excited to return to the local church as a pastor.”
At Bayside of Midtown, he will partner with Bob Balian, the church’s current senior pastor. Smith previously served as superintendent of the Pacific Southwest Conference and pastor of Sanctuary Covenant Church in Minneapolis.
