Podcast Examines Intersection of Faith, Fitness

Covenant pastor Tim Morey (left) with his fellow podcaster Kris Germain

TORRANCE, CA (December 6, 2017) – Ragamuffin Barbell might seem like a strange name for a podcast, but Covenant minister Tim Morey says it makes perfect sense for his new endeavor, which he launched with his friend who is a CrossFit trainer.

The podcast “talks about the intersection of faith and fitness, physicality and spirituality,” says Morey, who is pastor of Life Covenant Church in Torrance and an adjunct professor at Fuller Theological Seminary. “The topics and guests will vary pretty widely, but the three driving themes will be how caring for our bodies through exercise and diet can be an act of worship, an act of stewardship, and a spiritual discipline through which we are deepened in Christ.”

“Ragamuffin comes out of our love for Brennan Manning and embrace of messy grace. Barbell because we are both CrossFitters—though we will be exploring other fitness disciplines too,” Morey says, explaining the name.

The pair hopes to produce at least one episode a month.
