HARBERT, MI (February 8, 2018) – Retired Covenant Pastor Ronald L. Magnuson, 86, died Tuesday, February 6.
Ron was born July 8, 1931, in New Britain, Connecticut. He attended North Park Junior College, earned a bachelor’s degree from Augustana College, a Master of Divinity from North Park Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry in organizational development from McCormick Theological Seminary.
He married Marlene Dahlstrom on December 10, 1954.
Ron served as assistant pastor and director of Christian education at Trinity Covenant Church in Oak Lawn, Illinois; Harbert Community Church for 26 years; and as chaplain and Bible teacher at North Park Academy. He also worked as a consultant for churches, including the Pacific Northwest Conference, where he was a “pastor to pastors.” He served on multiple national and regional Covenant boards and civic commissions.
Survivors include his wife; son Mark (Eileen) Magnuson; daughter Lisa Magnuson; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, February 16, at Pike Funeral Home in Bridgman, Michigan. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 17, at Harbert Community Church.
Memorial contributions should go to Harbert Community Church or the North Park Theological Seminary scholarship fund.
