NORTHBROOK, IL (July 5, 2018)—M. Jeanette Anderson, widow of former North Park Theological Seminary professor and dean Glenn Anderson, died June 15. She was ninety-one. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 8, at 4 p.m. at North Park Covenant Church in Chicago where she was a longtime member.

Jeanette was born June 9, 1927, to George and Elphie (Lungren) Olson on the family farm in Osage City, Kansas, and grew up in the nuture and love of her family home and of her church home, Statler Covenant. She and Glenn were married in 1950.

Jeanette lived a life of service, supporting the ministries of the Covenant churches where Glenn was pastor in Malden and Attleboro, Massachusetts, later working at North Park University, playing piano at church, teaching Sunday school, hosting visiting pastors and missionaries, organizing Bible study groups, and graciously sharing her prayers. As wife to a seminary professor and dean, Jeanette shared wisdom and experiences with seminary spouses as they contemplated the challenges ahead of them. Even through the health challenges she faced in her final years, God used Jeanette to minister to the staff and residents at both Covenant Home in Chicago and Brandel Health and Rehab at Covenant Village of Northbrook where she was a resident. She always took the time to listen and engage with whomever she was speaking to. She became a cheerleader, a supporter, a counselor, a loving friend who always encouraged people to be their best.

Jeanette was proud to be Glenn’s wife and she loved being a mother to her three sons—she often shared how very proud she was of the men they have become.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn in 1985, and by her brother, Leland Olson. She is survived by three sons, Daniel (Marie), Timothy, and Jonathan (Barb); three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Glenn P. Anderson Scholarship Fund at North Park University, 3225 West Foster Avenue, Box 6, Chicago, IL 60625-4895, or online.
