GOLDEN VALLEY, MN (October 12, 2018) – The memorial service for S. Elaine (Larson) Johnson, widow of Covenant minister Norbert Johnson, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, November 2, at Bloomington (Minnesota) Covenant Church.

Elaine, 91, died Wednesday, October 3.

She was born June 5, 1927, in Kingsford, Michigan, to Carl and Sophie Larson. Elaine earned an associate’s degree from North Park College.

She met Norbert at Covenant Point Bible Camp when she was 17, and they were married six years later on June 17, 1950, in Iron Mountain, Michigan.

The couple served churches in Carlsend, Michigan; Lafayette, Indiana; St. Paul, Minnesota; Omaha, Nebraska; and Chicago, Illinois. In retirement they also served churches in an interim capacity.

Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Gabrielson; two sons, Don (Martha) Johnson, and Timothy (Cynthia) Johnson; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
