Ellia Westburg, daughter of Covenant pastor Evan Westburg, passed away from muscular dystrophy on October 6, 2022. She was 13.
Ellia Naomi Westburg was born to Evan and Stephanie Westburg on May 14, 2009, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was homeschooled and loved to participate in a variety of activities, including dance, baseball, youth groups, and summer camps. She loved cats, playing the occasional prank, the color pink, Disney princesses, and for some reason that no one fully understood, the number 71. She was witty, funny, and tender-hearted.
As part of her public witness, Ellia chose to be baptized in 2019. She loved Jesus and his promise of renewal in this life and at the resurrection.
She is survived by her parents, Evan and Stephanie; siblings Sophie and Andrew; grandparents Stuart and Janice Westburg, Mark and Julie Smith, and David Sutton; and great-grandma, Lawanna Sutton.
A memorial service was held on October 14 at New Covenant Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. Memorial gifts may be sent to Covenant Cedars Bible Camp to help with accessibility improvements for future campers.
