Originally Vancouver, British Columbia; now Sacramento, California

What are you currently reading?

Church for Everyone, by Efrem Smith

What do you hope pastors and ministry leaders who attend Gather will take away from your talk?

Encouragement and insight.

What does the Gather theme, “Faithfully Forward,” mean to you in your life and ministry context?

Faithfully forward seems like the right posture and direction to go in (as opposed to disobediently backward?). I try to remember that “faithfully forward” comes at different speeds and strides in different seasons. Sometimes it is one step at a time, one day a time; other times it feels like leaps and bounds at warp speed!

What would Gather attendees be surprised to learn about you?

I’m sure many Gather attendees are not all that familiar with me yet, so I hope whatever they learn will be delightfully surprising!

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A journalist. Seeing Connie Chung, one of the few female Asian American faces I ever saw on TV, was an inspiration.

What was your first job?

Babysitting.

What was the last song you sang along to?

Besides worship? Probably anything Lauryn Hill.
