In August, the National Association of Evangelicals welcomed the Evangelical Covenant Church as one of three denominations to join the organization.
Along with the Covenant, the Association of Independent Methodists and the Church of God of Prophecy are the NAE’s newest denominational members.
“We are delighted to welcome these three denominations into the NAE family,” said Walter Kim, NAE president. “Their unique histories, ministries, and perspectives reflect the breadth and vitality of evangelical Christianity and underscore the value of working together across traditions for the common good.” The additions reflect the NAE’s commitment to fostering collaboration among evangelical Christians across a wide range of traditions, backgrounds, and ministry contexts.
“As an evangelical denomination, we believe it is important to continue finding ways to partner with other denominations and organizations that are seeking to follow Jesus faithfully,” said Tammy Swanson-Draheim, president of the Evangelical Covenant Church. “In a time when division so often shapes our public life, the Church has an opportunity to offer a different witness—one marked by humility, unity, and a shared commitment to the gospel.”
She added, “I have been encouraged by the thoughtful work of the National Association of Evangelicals, particularly resources like ‘For the Health of the Nation,’ and I believe there is genuine value in exploring how we might serve one another and bear witness to Christ together in the years ahead.”
Founded in 1942, the NAE includes more than 40 denominations and thousands of churches, schools, and nonprofits, and serves a constituency of millions. The organization provides resources for member denominations and represents evangelical churches in public policy conversations.
