Covenant minister Steven Michael Evans died December 18, in Syracuse, New York. He was 54.  

Steven was born in Utica, New York, to Rosemary (Schreck) and David R. Evans on March 19, 1967. He was a graduate of Liverpool High School and Roberts Wesleyan College. He earned his MDiv from North Park Theological Seminary in 1995.  

He served as pastor of First Covenant Church of Willoughby Hills, Ohio, from 1995 to 2002. He was ordained in 1997.  

He has served Anglican churches in the Syracuse, New York, area since 2002. 

He married Alexandra (“Alyx”) Tekyna on January 5, 1991. They have six children. 

An avid biker, Steven had a goal of biking all the sections of the Erie Canal and biked two-thirds of it last year. He also loved fishing and could often be found fishing on the dock at Camp Mission Meadows in Dewittville, New York.  

While serving as the rector for St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Nedrow, New York, he began the St. Andrew’s Garage Sale ministry and counted it as one of his greatest privileges to help people in need.  

He is survived by his wife of almost 31 years, Alexandra; their children, Katelyn, Carter (Kate Wagner), Benjamin, Nicholas, Jacqueline, and Jordan; his parents; his brother, Gregg; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
