After much prayer and discernment, Rebecca Gonzalez has announced that she will transition from her role as executive director of Operations for the Evangelical Covenant Church.

After much prayer and discernment, Rebecca Gonzalez has announced that she will transition from her role as executive director of Operations (COO) for the Evangelical Covenant Church. Gonzalez has played an integral role in the Covenant since she began working for the denominational team in January 2014.

“Rebecca is a gift to the Covenant. Her tenure is a demonstration of thoughtful leadership and a story of incredible dedication to our team, our leaders, and every ministry partner. Ultimately, her dedication to God’s mission is a blessing and steadfast anchor for all of us,” said John Wenrich, president of the Evangelical Covenant Church. “We honor and celebrate Rebecca’s service, and we pray a blessing over her in this next season. She will be greatly missed.”

“It has been an honor to have a front-row seat to all that God is doing in and through the Covenant. I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to God’s mission,” said Gonzalez. “Thank you to all of our Covenant leaders, colleagues, and mission friends throughout our 11 conferences for their trust and partnership as we co-labored in support of our denomination.”

In her role as chief operating officer, Gonzalez has helped spearhead numerous efforts within the Covenant and played an integral role in leadership, including her dedicated position on the Council of Administrators, Covenant Office Leadership Team (COLT), and ongoing leadership over the Operations area, which includes Covenant Governance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Facilities, and Emergency Response.

Before coming to the Covenant, Rebecca served as vice president for operations and programming at Casa Central, the largest non-governmental provider of social services in Chicago. She also has leadership experience with World Vision and other church-based and retail contexts.

Gonzalez has accepted an invitation to join Wycliffe Bible Translators as their vice president of human resources, beginning June 1, 2022. She remains committed to her current role, the upcoming Covenant Annual Meeting, and assisting the leadership transitions currently underway in a manner that best serves the Covenant.
