Rob Peterson Nominated to Lead the Evangelical Covenant Church of Canada

The Canada Conference Leadership Board has named Rob Peterson as the nominee to serve as president/superintendent of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Canada (ECCC).

Peterson, associate superintendent, has been the acting president/superintendent since December when Glenn Peterson resigned to become senior director of church planting for the Covenant’s denominational office.

The Leadership Board (LB) entered into “a careful and prayerful process of discernment that advances the entire mission as it identifies gifted and godly people uniquely capable of significantly advancing the ministry of the Canada Covenant,” Jenell Pluim, chair of the LB, wrote to the conference in November. Announcing the nominee this week, she wrote, “The interviews were excellent, and we were encouraged by the thoughtfulness of each one. We spent one night and the next morning to pray, reflect, and then deliberate over the nominees. It seemed good to us and to the Holy Spirit.”

“It was a delight to work with the Leadership Board in the search process,” said President Tammy Swanson-Draheim. “The interviews were encouraging, and the selection was prayerful. If affirmed at the annual meeting of the ECCC, Rob is well equipped to lead in this next season.”

Delegates will vote on the nominee at the Canada Covenant Annual General Meeting, May 2-3.
