Thok Tang Home Safe

After days of global prayer, Thok Tang, son of Covenant global personnel James Tang, has been found safe in Kenya. The family and church celebrate with gratitude.

After his family reported him missing in Kitale, Kenya, last week, Thok Tang, son of Covenant global personnel James Tang, has returned home safely.

“After eight days of petitioning prayers by so many worldwide, we have the beautiful invitation to ‘rejoice with those who rejoice!’” said Deborah Masten, director of global personnel for Serve Globally. “James Tang reported early this morning that his son Thok has returned safely! Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus!”

On April 29, Thok went missing, and James Tang asked friends to join him in prayer. Covenanters around the world began interceding for the family, and the Serve Globally team communicated regularly with James, as well as with appropriate local and international authorities who were aiding in the search. Masten noted especially the work of Chrissy Palmerlee, senior director of Serve Globally: “Her tireless 24-hour coordination efforts and sacrificial dedication to managing local and international details demonstrated extraordinary and comprehensive care for James and his family!”

James posted on Facebook Live on Monday morning (May 5) that Thok had been found safe.

Masten said, “We are deeply grateful to God for his care, provision, and protection of Thok. We are beyond appreciative to all of you, those in the church here in the U.S. and around the world. Your daily commitment to hold James’s family and their past history of deep family grief and loss was particularly touching.”

“It seemed like a dream, too good to be true,
    when God returned Zion’s exiles.
We laughed, we sang,
    we couldn’t believe our good fortune.
We were the talk of the nations—
    “God was wonderful to them!”
God was wonderful to us;
    we are one happy people.”

– Psalm 126:1-3 (The Message)
