Retired Covenant pastor Paul Hedberg died May 24, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona. He was 73.

Paul Alan Hedberg was born October 26, 1951, to parents Wilmar and Esther Hedberg in Worcester, Massachusetts. He grew up attending Salem Covenant Church there.

Paul married Hope E. Wishart on August 17, 1974, and they had two sons, Eric and Peder.

He enrolled at North Park University and graduated in 1973. He earned his MDiv from North Park Theological Seminary in 1978.

Paul was ordained by the Evangelical Covenant Church in Fort Collins, Colorado, in 1979. He served Wallens Creek Covenant Church in Jonesville, Virginia; Trinity Covenant Church in Oak Lawn, Illinois; Bethany Covenant Church in Richfield, Minnesota; and Bethel Covenant Church in Flossmoor, Illinois.

He served on board of Covenant Pines Bible Camp in McGregor, Minnesota, and on various boards and committees in the Northwest Conference.

Paul loved people and loved life. He was a friend to many and cherished each relationship and conversation. He desired to see a world bathed in honesty, generosity, and friendship.

Paul was preceded in death by his son Peder. He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Hope; son Eric (Erikka); and sister-in-law, Holly.

Memorial gifts may be sent to Pilgrim Pines Camp and Conference Center in Swanzey, New Hampshire, where he spent many summers and which was a spiritual home. A celebration of life will be held among family and friends later in the year.
