Links: What Covenanters Are Talking About Online

By Stan Friedman

CHICAGO, IL (February 24, 2012) – Many Covenanters routinely share links to social media articles and videos with one another that Covenant News Service believes may be of interest to others. Following is a sample of those submissions – their inclusion does not represent an endorsement of any views expressed.

Southern Baptists Decide Not to Change Their Name – Leaders say changing the name would hurt the brand. Still, local churches that want something different are encouraged to consider “Great Commission Baptists.” Whether we like the language or not, church names serve as brands.

We Need More Worship Wars, Not Fewer – These are wars in which people betray their preferences and fight for the “other side.”

Pastors Take Ash Wednesday on the Road – Pastors of a Chicago church rub ashes on foreheads of pedestrians in downtown. Hundreds of people stop.

A Question of Identity – It matters – a lot – that Jeremy Lin is Asian, writer says. Maybe some day it won’t.

Worship Occupies More Public Space Than City Schools – District Court’s definition of worship is too narrow – and should remind us of why we gather.

An Open Letter to Young Youth Workers – The site includes a link to an “open letter to old youth workers” as well. Apparently, “Over the last few weeks there has a been a little ruckus in the blogosphere between veteran and rookie youth workers.”

Editor’s note: If you have a link you would like considered for publication, please email Covenant Communications.
