Day 11 Gift Idea: Sustaining Pastoral Excellence

Today we highlight Sustaining Pastoral Excellence (SPE). One way Develop Leaders partners with local congregations is by making grants available to help clergy pursue holistic, Christ-centered development, lifelong vocational and biblical formation, and opportunities for renewal.

CHICAGO, IL (December 11, 2018) – Throughout the Advent season, Covenant Newswire is highlighting daily gift selections from the CovenantCares giving guide. Through the free annual catalog, Covenanters can partner with brothers and sisters around the globe to give gift donations that will help serve communities and advance God’s work in many areas.

Today we highlight Sustaining Pastoral Excellence (SPE). One way Develop Leaders partners with local congregations is by making grants available to help clergy pursue holistic, Christ-centered development, lifelong vocational and biblical formation, and opportunities for renewal.

The program was initially launched with a grant from the Lilly Endowment but is now funded with contributions from Covenant ministers, regional conferences, an annual donation from Bethany Benefits, and individual donors.

SPE provides clergy with financial assistance to receive spiritual direction. Personal learning experiences and leadership cohorts around various pastoral arts enables ministers to grow in competence. Other grants help fund personal retreats and provide sabbatical resources.

Your gift will help expand these opportunities for Covenant clergy. This and other missional gift-giving options are available now through CovenantCares Gifts for Mission. Please join us in advancing the mission.
