Sylvia Helene Marley, wife of the late Covenant minister Fred Marley, died June 24, 2026, in the Seattle area. She was 86.
Sylvia Piepman was born July 24, 1939, in Australia. She came to the United States and married Fred Marley in 1964. Fred, an Estonian immigrant who had come to the US in 1949 and trained at North Park Theological Seminary, had been serving Covenant congregations since his graduation in 1957. Together, they served churches in Toronto, Ontario; Marion, Ohio; and Monroe, Washington. Fred left parish ministry in 1975, and the family settled in the Seattle area, where Sylvia would make her home for the rest of her life.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, in 2013. She is survived by her sons, including Gregory; eight grandchildren; and other family and friends.
