Obituary: Ernestine (Agnew) Olson

SHAWNEE, KS (May 14, 2018) – A funeral service for Ernestine (Agnew) “Ernie” Olson, wife of retired Covenant minister Richard Olson, was held Thursday, May 10, at Hillcrest Covenant Church. She died Monday, May 7, at the age of 77.

Ernie was born on May 13, 1941, in Skiatook, Oklahoma. She graduated from Friends Bible College in Haviland, Kansas, and attended Emporia (Kansas) State University, where she met Richard.

The couple married June 29, 1963. They served Swedeburg Covenant Church in Wahoo, Nebraska.

Ernie worked as a seamstress for two private businesses and as a paraprofessional at Mission Valley Middle School and Shawnee Mission East. She also served on the board of the Covenant Home in Stromsburg.

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Cheryl Lynn Olson. She is survived by her husband; daughter Kristen (Steve) Hickey; son John (Holly) Olson; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
