BLOOMINGTON, MN (January 27, 2011) – Members of Bloomington Covenant Church are paying special attention to the search for a young mother who disappeared from her home in Hartford Township, Michigan.
Amy Henslee, 30, has been missing since Monday morning. Her grandmother’s sister, Char Jorgenson, is an active member of the Bloomington church.
Henslee’s husband, James, last saw her when he left for work at 7:30 a.m. Monday. He is not a suspect, police said.
Van Buren County Police Chief Bill Lux said in a press conference today that he believes she still is alive. Authorities are not sure whether a crime was committed or that she left voluntarily. The front door was locked and Henslee’s coat and shoes were not in the house. Her purse with identification and her wallet were left behind, and she had no credit or ATM card with her. She did not have a car.
“Time is of the essence to us,” Lux said. “We don’t know what we have this point. Things don’t make sense, and that’s what we’re trying to find out with everything we’re doing.”
Henslee has two sons, 8 and 10. One of her friends told a local newspaper, “This is totally out of character. Anyone who knows Amy knows she would never not be home for her children.”
