Delegates Excited About New University Campaign

ESTES PARK, CO (June 30, 2011) – North Park University has had a wonderful year and faces an even more promising future, North Park University President David Parkyn told delegates to the 126th Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church today.

North Park University President David Parkyn detailed the accomplishments of the school during the past year – a record number of students, numerous books written by faculty, two students being named Fulbright scholars, and the renewal of its accreditation for the next 10 years.

But the gathering became most excited when he spoke of the future and the newest major initiative called Campaign North Park. The campaign website includes an informative video.

The campaign – the largest fundraising effort in the school’s history – seeks to raise a total of $57 million to construct a new Science and Community Life Building, strengthen the Annual Fund, increase endowments for scholarships, and support Chicago-based academic programs and faculty development.

The Science and Community Life will cost $42 million, but is essential if the school is to continue providing high-quality education, Parkyn said. The delegates applauded loudly when he announced $30 million already has been raised.

The president then exhorted the delegates to help raise the rest of the needed funds. He added that people don’t have to be large givers to make a difference. Click here to learn more about the campaign and ways to become involved.

Parkyn also urged delegates to promote the school to potential students, stressing that personal referral and recommendation is the most effective way of attracting students to the school. He further asked attendees to suggest the names of potential students.

“The simple truth is that we cannot do this without you,” Parkyn said.
