Since 2012, the Covenant has partnered with World Vision through Covenant Kids Congo, a child sponsorship program in Gemena, DR Congo. The comprehensive community development program builds infrastructure for water, health, education, and agriculture and engages in advocacy. Not only is each child profoundly impacted, the entire community is transformed. On a recent vision trip to the area, the CKC team saw evidence of the change taking place in the lives of children and their families. There is good news and much reason for hope. But CKC is not a two- or five-year program. It’s about community transformation over a twelve- to eighteen-year period.

Building Community
Our partnership includes everything from worshiping God together to addressing the crucial need for clean water. Bernadette used to walk a mile on a dangerous path to get water from a dirty stream for her family. Now, thanks to CKC and partner Congolese churches, she can fill her jug at a new water kiosk only minutes from her home.

Food Security
Groups of mothers of sponsored children learn how to grow, cook, and prepare nutritious food—critical skills in an area where far too many children die of malnutrition and preventable disease. They grow vegetables to feed their families and to sell, learning how to get a good price at the local market.
