Presented by the Commission on Christian Action, adopted by the delegates to the 107th Covenant Annual Meeting.
The Commission on Christian Action commends North Park College in its centennial year for the development of an exemplary urban outreach program. Up to 45 percent of the student body has been involved in one or more of the varied activities, offering an opportunity for students to grow and learn in non-academic areas while helping people in need. Examples include: Adopt a Grandparent, tutoring children and adults in the community, baby and childcare at Cook County Hospital, food pantry, Habitat for Humanity, shelter for the homeless, tutoring at Cook County Jail, pet therapy, care for physically and mentally handicapped persons, and several others.
While celebrating these many visible expressions of Christian action, the commission at the same time offers commendation to all those congregations in the Evangelical Covenant Church that participate in similar outreach programs. It remains a continuing goal of the commission that every congregation will develop outreach programs that exemplify caring and compassion for all God’s children.
