BLESS
An Intentional Evangelism Initiative
God’s way of reaching and restoring the world has always been through blessing. These five missional practices make up the acronym BLESS and are a way to participate in the strategy God gave Abraham to reach the world. “And I will bless you…and you will be a blessing” (Genesis 12:2). As we engage these practices daily, we partner with God’s Spirit to bless those who do not know him.
How Does BLESS Work?
BLESS is a new approach to prayer and evangelism. It’s less about downloading information or memorizing scripts, and more about loving our neighbors well. It helps us get “unstuck” and practice evangelism more effortlessly. Using five simple missional practices—Begin with prayer, Listen with care, Eat together, Serve in love, and Share the story—BLESS is a suite of resources designed as an intentional pathway to equip every Covenanter to make more disciples who follow Jesus, become like Jesus, and engage in the mission of Jesus every day.
Begin with Prayer
Pray for people in your life who are far from God. Ask God, “How do you want to use me to bless the people in my life?”
Listen with Care
Pay attention to people’s dreams and pain. Listen for evidence of God’s work in their lives.
Eat Together
Share meals and life with people in your life who do not know God.
Serve in Love
Be attentive to opportunities God provides you to care for people and attend to their needs.
Share the Story
Once you build a relationship and earn trust, look for ways you can share the story of how Jesus is transforming your life and the world.
