Intentional Evangelism

Initiate. Create. Proclaim.

BLESS equips every Covenanter to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with their neighbors, resourcing them with five missional practices to fulfill the Great Commission, demonstrate God’s love, and join God’s restorative work in the world. We begin with Prayer. Listen with care. Eat together. Serve with love. And share the story of God’s love. It’s that simple. It’s that powerful.

The Five Practices

What does BLESS look like?

Each letter represents a practice rooted in how Jesus engaged the people around him. Hover over each card to learn more.

Begin with Prayer
Pray for people in your life who are far from God. Ask God, “How do you want to use me to bless the people in my life?”
Listen with Care
Pay attention to people’s dreams and pain. Listen for evidence of God’s work in their lives.
Eat Together
Share meals and life with people in your life who do not know God.
Serve in Love
Be attentive to opportunities God provides you to care for people and attend to their needs.
Share Your Story
Once you build a relationship and earn trust, look for ways you can share the story of how Jesus is transforming your life and the world.

BLESS is a transformative approach to prayer and evangelism, focused less on memorizing scripts and more on authentically loving our neighbors.

How to Host a BLESS Sunday

  • Order the free Begin with Prayer bulletin inserts (or the full BLESS series inserts) at CovBooks.com. (Available in English and Spanish.)
  • During worship, invite attendees to write the names of people they are praying for in the bulletin insert. (For virtual attendees, we also have an online option.)
  • Each person fills out two copies of their list. They'll keep one for themselves and place the other in the offering basket.
  • Pray over these lists together as a church community.

What to Do with Your Lists

After BLESS Sunday, bring your collected lists to your conference annual meeting or mail them to your conference office. They will be brought to Gather 2026, where we will join together as a denomination to pray over every name in a special BLESS ceremony.

Prior to moving to the USA, I was a professor at the National University of Colombia and served with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students in Colombia for 16 years. Starting in 2001, I served as InterVarsity National Staff in the USA. I have a master’s degree in Christian Ministries, and I serve in Spiritual Direction to those who want to be fully present and available to God and receive His grace over them. My joy is to see professors and college students coming to know Jesus and being transformed into people that bring the good news of righteousness and justice to others.
