Online NPU Archives Collection Highlights ‘Evolving Campus’

CHICAGO, IL (September 22, 2014) — In celebration of the opening of the Nancy and G. Timothy Johnson Center for Science and Community Life, the F.M. Johnson Archives and Special Collections has two new exhibits on display through the fall.

Seeds That Could Grow: The Evolving Campus of North Park University is on display in the lower level of Brandel Library.

This exhibit traces the growth of North Park’s campus from its beginnings to the present. It is accompanied by a digital timeline illustrating the campus’s growing footprint over time.

The title of the exhibit draws from a description of North Park’s earliest days by its first president, David Nyvall, who wrote, “It was a humble enterprise, to be sure. . . . But humble as was the beginning, it contained seeds that could grow.”

An exhibit of photographs of science facilities at the university through the decades is on display on the library’s second floor.
