Funeral Service for C. Oliver Carlson

RED WING, MN (August 14, 2010) – A funeral service for former Evangelical Covenant Church pastor C. Oliver Carlson, 89, was conducted at First Covenant Church on Wednesday. He died August 6.

Carlson was born December 23, 1920, to Svante and Lydia (Gerdin) Carlson. He was a graduate of St. Paul Bible Institute. He married Edith Goetz on June 21, 1944.

Carlson served as pastor at churches in Hubbard, Hastings, Lake Jennie and Stillwater, Minnesota, as well as Arnolds Park and Newton, Iowa. He later worked at a mortuary in Los Angeles.

Carlson is survived by his wife; two sons, Paul Carlson of Red Wing and Lane Carlson of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; and two daughters, Marcia Rossman and DeAnn Carlson, both of Coon Rapids, Minnesota.

Covenant minister Marvin Eppard officiated at the funeral. A private family interment followed.
