NORTHBROOK, IL (March 7, 2017) – Retired Covenant minister Edmund “Ed” Train, 97, died Sunday, March 5.

He was born June 18, 1919, in Lindsborg, Kansas, to Fritz and Freda Train. He attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and Bethany College in Lindsborg. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Wheaton College and graduated from North Park Seminary. He later continued his education at Andover Newton Seminary and Harvard Divinity School.

Ed married Dorothy Nyquist in 1948. She preceded him in death in 2013.

He served Covenant churches in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Cambridge (relocated to Lexington), Massachusetts; and Greeley, Colorado. Ed then became a nucleus builder for the Central Conference and started churches in Naperville, Libertyville, and Crystal Lake, Illinois. He also served as the first pastor of the church in Crystal Lake. In retirement, Ed and Dorothy lived at Covenant Village of Northbrook, Illinois.

Survivors include two daughters, Louise Gustafson (Mark) of Lake Zurich, Illinois, and Linda Drimalla (Rick) of Charlotte, North Carolina; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 10, at Winnetka Covenant Church in Wilmette.
