Covenant Quarterly Highlights Reading Scripture with Reformers

G. Sujin Pak

CHICAGO, IL (October 31, 2017) – The latest issue of The Covenant Quarterly focuses on the way the Reformers read Scripture.

The Perspicuity of Scripture, Justification by Faith Alone, and the Role of the Church in Reading Scripture with the Protestant Reformers,” by G. Sujin Pak, assistant professor of the history of Christianity at Duke University, explores the connection between these three teachings of the Protestant Reformers. Pak specializes in the history of Christianity in late medieval and early modern Europe.

In “Reading Paul with the Reformers,” Stephen Chester, professor of New Testament at North Park Theological Seminary, asks whether interpretations by the Reformers still have anything to say to us today.

Stephen Chester

Chester presented the lecture “Reading the Bible with Martin Luther after 500 Years: Reflections on Luther’s Legacy and Why It Still Matters” recently. A video and transcript of the lecture will be published here.

The Covenant Quarterly is the ministerial journal of the denomination and is published by Covenant Publications through North Park Theological Seminary. It is available to ministers and laypeople.
