CHICAGO, IL (December 13, 2017) – Friday is the deadline to apply for the new ECC position of director of missional discipleship.
The director will collaborate with the executive minister of Make and Deepen Disciples (MDD) to formulate and promote a comprehensive strategic plan for discipleship that encompasses all generations and contexts of the ECC. The position will also oversee adult discipleship initiatives, mentor and coach local discipleship leaders, and work with the director of evangelism to develop resources for discipleship that are both formational and missional in their impact. This ECC director reports to the MDD executive minister.
“The vision for MDD is to mobilize a multiethnic movement of disciple-making Christians across all ages,” says executive minister Michelle Sanchez. “The heart of our vision can be described as missional discipleship—making disciples who make disciples.”
For this new position, Sanchez says she is eager to connect with candidates who have demonstrated passion and fruitfulness for both discipleship and evangelism and who understand the holistic connection between the two. “We’re looking for a person who has a pastoral heart as well as strong strategic-thinking gifts,” she adds. “We envision this role as a sort of ‘discipleship engineer’ who will coach churches across the Covenant to develop intentional pathways for spiritual growth and formation.”
