WINNIPEG, MB (February 14, 2018) — The Evangelical Covenant Church of Canada has published a Lenten Reader that includes reflections on texts from the Book of Psalms. Lent begins today.
The reader can be downloaded for free or read online.
Conference members as well as some staff from Covenant Offices in Chicago contributed the reflections. It was edited by Julia Sandstrom and Hanne Johnson.
According to Sandstrom, this year’s book guides its users through the Gospel of Luke. “We begin at the start of Jesus’ ministry and follow Him to the cross,” she says.
Each day of Lent features its own devotional. On Sundays, which are not included in the 40 days of Lent, there are works of art to help readers meditate and pray.
Sandstrom writes in the introduction, “Lent is the sandpaper season of discipleship. Whether you give something up, or take something on during this season, allow God to use it to refine you.”
Readers can download one of the PDF versions in large print or booklet, or bookmark the online version and return to it each day.
