Retired Covenant minister Robert L. Heicher died in Fremont, California, on January 21. He was 87.

He was born December 20, 1933, in Chicago.

He graduated from North Park College, earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, and a master of divinity from North Park Theological Seminary. He planted Rolling Hills Covenant Church in Palos Verde Estates, California, before attending seminary.

Robert married Carolyn Nyquist on August 3, 1957.

They served churches in Illinois, Minnesota, and California. He planted the Covenant church in Burnsville, Minnesota.

Robert left full-time ministry to work in medical sales until retiring in 1996. After retiring, he served 23 years as a chaplain and counselor for the Centerville Presbyterian Church’s free dining program, which provides meals, food, and clothing to people who are homeless.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, and two children, Laurel and Larry.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, no service was held.
