Five Questions with Job Gonzalez

This interview is part of our series of getting to know the speakers and musicians who will be at the Midwinter conference in January. We asked them some questions about our theme for the year, “Follow Me.”

Job Gonzalez is the worship pastor at Champion Forest Espanol in Texas.

Where do you currently live?

Houston, Texas

Can you describe a pivotal moment when you responded to the call to follow Jesus?

I grew up in a pastoral home. I was a musician at my dad’s church and one night at a youth service when I was about sixteen years old, it felt different. I felt the Holy Spirit tug my heart and I knew that I had to surrender my life to Jesus completely. Since then, I have been following Jesus.

How has your understanding of what it means to follow Jesus changed over time?

My understanding of following Jesus hasn’t changed. What has changed is how I live my day-to-day life for him. As I grow older and wiser, I have found that Jesus is constant, always faithful, and abounding in love and grace.

Who is the most interesting person you follow online, and why?

The person I follow on social media whom I find very interesting is Jon Thurlow. He connects with worship leaders who want that connection with Jesus on and off stage. He gives encouraging nuggets to those who lead people in worship to not forget why we do what we do.

Just for fun: What was your last Google search?

“What are the steps to apply the Spanish accents on a PC?”
