New Certificate in Missional Leadership

Covenant Missional Vitality and North Park Theological Seminary are excited to announce the new Certificate in Missional Leadership. This partnership offers pastors and church leaders both theological foundations and practical tools to assess and lead missional health in their ministry contexts.

The certificate is designed for individuals involved in interim ministry, church revitalization, church planting, and chaplaincy. Lay leaders, too, will find the content valuable for understanding missional health in their settings. Whether you’re seeking to help a church transition into a vibrant, established community or navigate the unique challenges of post-pandemic ministry, the courses provide valuable insights and skills for leaders at all levels.

Program Overview

The Certificate in Missional Leadership consists of four courses spread across two years, each aimed at equipping leaders with the knowledge and tools to lead in today’s evolving church landscape:

  1. Foundations of Church Health—This course explores the characteristics of church health, its connection to the surrounding community, and the concept of missional vitality.
  2. Missional Challenges and Opportunities in Times of Transition—Focused on the dynamics of change, this course identifies practices that help churches thrive during transitions, analyzes emerging post-pandemic norms in the church, and helps leaders develop strategies for mission and outreach in their current ministry context.
  3. Cultural Dimensions of the Missio Dei—This course examines the cultural role of missional leadership, the impact of cultural norms in communication, and the needs of today’s missional leaders.
  4. Missional Leadership Practicum—In the final course, students specialize in areas such as church planting transitions, interim ministry, or church health. The practicum includes a final project where students can apply their learning in practical settings.
