Postcards from the Midwest Conference gather snapshots of God at work in congregations across Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, western Missouri, Nebraska, and Wyoming, curated by the Midwest Conference and celebrating faithfulness, fresh vision, and the distinct beauty of ministry.
Manhattan (Kansas) Covenant Church celebrated its first worship service on September 7, 2025, marking the start of a new church family. In the following weeks, members gathered in homes to pray, share meals, and study Scripture, fostering belonging and discipleship.
They studied the BLESS evangelism materials over the summer to learn how to share Jesus’s love with their neighbors. They also connected with local partners such as Be Able and Center of Hope to meet practical needs, embodying the church’s calling to love all neighbors.
An event called “Called and Gifted” invited people to explore how the Covenant Church fully affirms women in ministry, with panelists sharing their stories and callings. Pastors Amanda Braun and Sam Creagar describe Manhattan Covenant as a community committed to “moving toward Jesus together,” shaping everything from worship to outreach.
The church now gathers for monthly worship on the first Sunday of each month and continues to deepen their rhythms of prayer, Home Groups, and small-group discipleship. Leaders emphasize keeping Jesus at the center and asking what it means to be disciples who make disciples.
“We don’t want to do anything just because that’s what churches do,” Braun says. “We want everything to flow out of becoming like Jesus.” In a recent prayer gathering at City Park, Creagar’s young daughter Abby captured the church’s heart: “Our church really just wants people to know about Jesus, don’t we?”
Manhattan Covenant Church is learning, praying, and growing into a community that helps people know Jesus.
